Leading with Care: an interview with Emma Edvardsson Käck, HR Director, Doggy AB/PPF Nordics

Tell us about Emma.

I see it as my purpose to care for those around me, whether they are my two boys, my family members, or those who make up the communities around me. Singing is something I am passionate about and that I get energy from. At baptisms, weddings, and funerals, I am there to sing, make people cry, and then be on my way. In my work life, I care deeply about my colleagues’ growth and, where I can help switch mindsets from negative to positive.

What defines your work at PPF?

We should start with some history. I have been in HR for 20 years, in the food industry for 12 years, and with PPF since Doggy AB joined the PPF group of companies in September 2020. Since 2020, I have prioritized having my own “why”, creating a more perfect fit between the company’s mission and me and my colleagues’ work expectations. That is my special touch, caring about people, and helping find solutions for those who may not enjoy their work as much as they would like.

What is something crucial that you are working on right now?

Opening the PPF office in Malmö and helping transfer employees from our Vårgårda offices to the new ones. While a small number of the employees at our Vårgårda offices have decided against the move to Malmö, they have all been complimentary about my and PPF’s handling of the transition. That means a lot to me.

What is it you value about being here?

I feel that being here is a perfect match between what the company expects and what I want to do in my day-to-day work life.

What has been your experience since Doggy AB joined the PPF group in 2020?

The first six months, maybe the first year, were spent on integration. The order departments moved to Hungary, and there was a lot of internal concern about what changes were coming next. This is all to be expected and staying upbeat and positive helped calm the storm.

Is there such a thing as a typical workday for you? What would that day be like?

Yes, and I would say that 80% of my workday is spent supporting management, whether in Hamburg, at HQ, or between Malmö and Vårgårda. I lead the tasks between our regional offices and am the link between PPF and Doggy AB. Simply saying that we are now on our way to become the leading pet food company not only in Sweden but in the Nordics and our employees are excited about the journey. “We are part of the PPF family.”
