“Changes bring challenges, which I embrace as opportunities to develop”: an interview with Adam Sita, Finished Goods Warehouse Shift Leader, PPF

Tell us about Adam.

I am a positive guy. I love to work. I am 38 years old and have 22 years of work experience. I have been working since I was legally allowed to. In my work life, I have managed transport fleets and networks, driven trucks and operated forklifts, built production lines, and planned production. I have master's degree in business management and second one in health and safety management. With work and life, there is always something new to learn. Changes bring challenges, which I embrace as opportunities to develop new skills. I am pleased to tell you that this approach got me promoted to shift leader last month.

Congratulations! Clearly you are passionate about your work. What else are you passionate about?

My passion is my family. I have four daughters. They come first, no matter what. I am also a craftsman around our home. I build furniture and take care of all renovations. We recently had a kids’ day at the factory here—bouncy castles, animators, and many snacks. My girls were exhausted and went to sleep early, which allowed me to replaster the walls in our garage. Our family includes a dog and a cat who have brought many animals to us, not all of whom are alive. We live in a forest. Our home is surrounded by trees and bushes. This was going to happen.

What do you value about PPF? What have you enjoyed?

My experience with PPF began with the acquisition. I was then driving a forklift. Soon after PPF acquired us, I noticed the changes PPF was making. The changes were magnificent. Health and safety processes and procedures received a lot more attention. It was an incredible team led by a supportive supervisor. We started to do great things. Suddenly there were no obstacles between operations here and in Warsaw. We were having discussions about ideas. I felt very much a part of the team and PPF.

How did this support and encouragement motivate you? What did you do differently?

I was in a meeting just before this interview to discuss planning and operational changes. We have many discussions like this to plan for increased production volumes or assess new and potential risks. There are so many considerations. Everything needs to be adjusted, from conducting risk audits to mapping work and goods flows on the factory floor. The support from PPF improved these discussions. Everyone feels free to offer their input and their perspective. In our business, we are focused on production, transport, and sales. It is cyclical. We all need to be at the same table planning how to implement everything or nothing will work.

Who benefits most from your work?

I want everyone to benefit. I do not want to confine myself to logistics and to thinking only about logistics, shipment planning and distribution. I collaborate with everyone and welcome ideas from across the company. This is how PPF works best.

Any words of advice to end the interview?

Do not close yourself off in your own work. Do not box yourself in. We are all part of one huge team and we are all here for the same reason.
